Promotion Policy

How results in the annual examination decide promotion to the next class.

Annual examination

Promotion Based on Aggregate

EMKAY policy for promotion depends on the aggregate percentage a student secures in the annual examination.

Below 50%50–59%60% and above (B grade)

Below 50%

Not Promoted

A student securing less than 50% aggregate is considered to have failed the annual examination. They will not be promoted to the next class, or may not be offered a place in the school in the following year.

50% – 59%

Conditional Promotion

A student securing between 50–59% is promoted to the next class conditionally. They must secure a minimum of 60% (B grade) in the first term examination of the new class. If they fail to do so, they will be reverted or will have to leave the school.

Written undertaking: parents are required to give a written undertaking stating that they understand the implications of conditional promotion.
